Proud Romance Writer - that's me

I've been writing since I was seventeen and my heart got totally trashed by my first love. I wrote our story with my own Happy Ever After and it was CRINGE-WORTHY, but I caught the bug. I then transferred from Primary Teaching to Writing at uni (big mistake—did nothing for my progression as a writer). Post-uni I still dabbled in what I guess you'd call Single Title chicklit! But, looking back I knew nothing about novel structure or conflict. Then, in 2006 a writing friend of mine and I decided that since our 'serious' (lol) writing was going no where, we'd write a Mills and Boon novel. I'd never read one in my life but I mean, seriously, I'd heard what they were...how hard could it be?

I devoured about fifty reasonably new category titles across the different lines and I FELL in LOVE (again)! I'd found my niche. I loved these books and wanted to write them. I joined the Romance Writers of Australia and never looked back. Since then I've penned five complete drafts. The first will never see the light of day. The second finalled in the 2007 Valerie Parv Award (VPA) with full MS requested (then rejected) by Super. In 2008 I came one of three runners-up in the Mills and Boon Feel The Heat writing contest and have learnt a lot from working with the editor assigned to me.
